Giles advises and represents in employment law, professional discipline and regulatory law, public and administrative law, partnership and company disputes, data protection and sports law, and acts as an accredited mediator and independent investigator. He appears in the High Court and the appellate courts, in employment and regulatory tribunals, and in the Isle of Man, and accepts instructions from solicitors and, under the Public Access scheme, directly from clients.

He is instructed on behalf of major companies and charities as well as individuals, acting in particular for senior executives and employees across financial services and investment banking, technology, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

He is frequently instructed to act for and advise public bodies and authorities, including:

Giles has comprehensive experience of professional discipline and regulatory matters concerning, among others, bankers, traders, financial services employees, doctors, dentists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, healthcare employees, pharmacists, opticians, solicitors, sportspeople and police officers.

He advises, and acts as legal assessor for, the internal regulatory and misconduct panels of public bodies including the police, fire services and NHS bodies.

Giles undertakes independent investigations, including disciplinary, capability, grievance, working-relationship, workplace-conflict, equality, change-project and organisational-culture investigations. He is an accredited mediator (ADR Chambers) and workplace mediator (CEDR). The combination of advocacy, mediation and investigation experience means he can help the parties resolve the dispute without recourse to litigation .

He lectures and gives training seminars to conferences and small groups on all matters within his specialisations. He is a Gray's Inn advocacy trainer and for six years organised the South Eastern Circuit's Florida advocacy course, which he also trained on.

Giles is a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers, the Employment Law Bar Association, the Employment Lawyers Association and the Administrative Law Bar Association, and sits on the Advocate (Bar Pro Bono) panel and ELAAS.
